Star Wars: Republic Commando
ased on George Lucas’s best selling movie Star Wars, ‘Republic Commando’ has made it possible for young and old to experience the world from a different point of view.
A first-person shooter with style this game takes the Star Wars gaming world to the next level. The player takes the part of a leader of an elite squad known as the ‘Republic Commando’ whose task is to destroy the enemy in a strategic and forceful manner. They infiltrate the enemy attempting to eliminate the root of the problem and stop the war. From kidnapping to demolition work the squad goes where no-one else dares to tread.
Set in the world of Star Wars, fans will be thrilled to meet the many already familiar characters and will be able to experience some of the movie scenes for themselves but from entirely different angles.
The graphics are to be complimented as is the game-play. Controlling your team is very easy. They can be manipulated according to their skills and be mounted in strategic positions to ensure the successful completion of a mission. However, the game is difficult even on the easy setting resulting in hours of entertainment. ‘Republic Commando’ will appeal to the die-hard fan and the first person gamer.
Prince of Persia - The Warrior Within
rustration comes in several forms - the first being frustration with life and the second being ‘Prince of Persia’s’ sequel, ‘The Warrior Within’.
This game first emerged at the start of the PC gaming era with Ubisoft making the most of the opportunity to take the game a few steps further.
As a prince, the player’s perilous quest is to reverse time by obtaining the Sands of Time. In the first release of this extremely successful title the prince had a taste of just what the Sands of Time could do.
Undertaking this adventure is a nightmare waiting to happen. Our prince is now a grown man with an extremely dark personality who uses excessive cruelty to take out his enemies. However his acrobatic skills are one of the highlights of the game.
By manipulating the environment success will be achieved – there is no easy way to handle the challenges - don’t expect to casually walk through doors and take on the enemy like other games. Technique and skill are involved as the prince hangs from ledges and runs up walls in a manner which makes Spiderman look like Tarzan with a hangover. Having to make combat with your enemy is even more skillful. The new prince has an arsenal of new moves which will entertain any Matrix fan and by manipulating time one can save the prince from any fatal errors.
The graphics will make you more excited than a 3-year-old boy with a rattle. However, as I said earlier it is an extremely frustrating game as the missions are extremely difficult to accomplish so have a few keyboards in reserve for these frustrating hours. One of my main complaints is the camera control which tends to confuse direction leaving your prince accidentally jumping the wrong way without wings.
‘Prince of Persia – Warrior Within’ is a game for the action junkie.
