Ultimate Wave Tahiti @ Imax in South Africa
by Press Release
14 February 2010

Quiksilver South Africa are proud to announce the Ultimate Wave Tahiti IMAX movie, to be shown at the IMAX Theatre, Gateway (Durban). The movie features Kelly Slater and Raimana Van Bastolaer surfing one of the planet’s most challenging waves, Tahiti’s Teahupo’o

‘The Ultimate Wave Tahiti’ focuses on Tahiti and the volcanic islands of French Polynesia, home to the Polynesian seafaring culture and some of the world’s most challenging surfing, as well as astounding coral reef ecosystems that are the interface between the island and the ocean.

Making The Ultimate Wave Tahiti while surfing Teahupo’o was an amazing experience,” says Slater, nine times world champ. “The technology used to create this film is going to help audiences understand the incredible power behind waves and will further educate future generations to protect the world’s oceans.”

The Quiksilver store in Gateway has combined with the IMAX Theatre for an amazing promotion. Every customer who purchases over R1 000 in the Quiksilver Gateway Store will receive a free ticket to watch the film, and any purchase over R500 will ensure a 50% discount on the price of a ticket. This offers runs through March and April, and also applies when the movie goes to Menlyn (Pretoria) in May

Similarly, every person who purchases a ticket for the film will also receive 10% off all purchases at the Quiksilver Gateway and Menlyn Stores. Film tickets will need to be produced to receive the discount, and store slips will need to be produced at IMAX to receive the free ticket or discount.

The tickets are R42 for adults and R32 for children and it is 48 minutes in duration. The movie launches on Friday 26 February at the IMAX Theatre in the Gateway Theatre of Shopping and will run until the end of April. For more information on the film please visit
