by Press Release
08 January 2010

Toyota Motor Corporation’s production and sales subsidiary in India, Toyota Kirloskar Motor Private, Ltd (TKM) have unveiled a concept car designed specifically for India at the 10th Auto Expo in New Delhi

O

n display at the Expo are a concept version of the Toyota Etios sedan with a newly developed 1.5-litre engine and a hatchback version with newly developed 1.2-litre engine.

Aimed at family users in India’s rapidly growing automobile market, the Etios possesses class-leading style and comfort while at the same time being affordable without compromising the quality for which Toyota is known. Not only does the vehicle offer both smooth and powerful driving and excellent fuel efficiency, but its interior is spacious with abundant storage space

According to Etios’ chief engineer - Yoshinori Noritake, development has taken four years and has involved over 2 000 engineers as well as customer input in many Indian cities. “I am convinced that the Etios will offer joy of ownership and quality of life to consumers,” he says.

TKM will produce the Etios from late 2010 at its second plant, currently being built expressly for the new car. Annual sales in India are set at 70 000 units and exports are planned.
