Ster-Kinekor introduces South Africa’s first 24-hour movie complex
by Press Release
14 December 2009

It’s confirmed! Carnival City in Brakpan’s six Ster-Kinekor cinemas will be screening movies around the clock from Friday to Sunday. This means that there are no more reasons for you to complain of boredom on the weekends…

I

n a local industry first, movie-lovers and midnight owls are now able to watch movies 24 hours a day on a Friday and Saturday at Ster-Kinekor’s Carnival City cinemas. Three additional shows have been added to the traditional line-up over weekends. Following the 10pm shows on Fridays and Saturdays, the additional screenings are scheduled for 00.30am, 3am and 5:30am.

Says Ster-Kinekor Group Marketing Executive, Michael Bender: “It’s about innovation and giving our customers what they want. Carnival city is abuzz with weekend fun-seekers looking for a variety of entertainment options – and our research gives the 24-hour movie a big thumbs-up with this audience.” AND if it’s successful… “we will certainly consider rolling it out to other relevant venues around the country”.

To help keep the late-night owls bright-eyed, Ster Kinekor is also introducing a special ‘midnight delight’ catering offer of Chaywa coffee and muffins in addition to the usual fare.

“This bold step taken by Ster-Kinekor is an exciting new addition to Carnival City. Offering movies 24-hours a day just further strengthens the variety of entertainment options we would like to offer to our customers,” concludes Peter Hannah, General Manager: Ster-Kinekor Theatres.

There are multiple booking and information gathering options, including online bookings either on your WAP-enabled cell phone, PC or by calling Ticketline on 082 16789 (value-added service rates apply), booking at the cinema at the self-service terminals or box offices.
